Back pain is a common complaint that the majority of us will suffer from at some point in our lives.  For some people the discomfort may only last for a few weeks whilst for others it could be an ongoing complaint that they suffer for years on end.

Aspirin and paracetamol will only dull the pain for a few hours so why not try some of these effective natural remedies instead.

Make sure you’re sitting correctly

People who spend their days sitting at a desk are particularly prone to back pain.  If you have an office job it’s important to make sure that you’re sitting at your desk correctly.  Make sure that your back is supported and you can use the keyboard at your desk with your wrists and forearms positioned straight.  Your feet should rest comfortably on the floor and the computer screen should be positioned at eye level.

Eat a balanced diet

You are what you eat so eating a healthy and balanced diet can get rid of all sorts of different aches and pains in the body.  Try to eliminate foods that are high in fat and sugar and replace them with plenty of fresh, whole foods.  Don’t forget to make sure that you’re staying hydrated by drinking plenty of water too.  Dehydration can cause poor posture and an achy, sore back.

Fresh ginger

Fresh ginger has been used as a natural remedy for back pain for many years.  Slice up some fresh ginger and add it to hot water to make tasty ginger tea.

Make sure you’re getting plenty of Omega-3s

Omega-3s have brilliant anti-inflammatory properties so if you’re suffering from aches and pains in your back omega-3 could reduce the inflammation to ease the pain.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture reliefs back pain by stimulating the nerves in order to release endorphins which provide pain relief.  It can also reduce inflammation and improve joint flexibility.
